Opened in 1996 our 16,500 square foot facility consists of 6 superbly equipped multi-specialty operating rooms with teleconferencing technology. The CSC is fully accredited and has been built to conform to government and local licensing regulations.
The architectural group, which designed the building, used many specialized consultants, but also sought major input from experienced doctors and nurses. The building is of steel and concrete construction. The standards of design, construction, and equipment are so high that the City of Vancouver has, in the event of a major regional catastrophe, designated the CSC as a "post-disaster facility".

Although built and equipped to such high standards, the CSC is able to provide its services at a cost significantly below that of any hospital. This is achieved through efficiencies in controls and management that one cannot duplicate in the administratively overburdened structure of a major public institution. This efficiency will be immediately evident to all who visit the CSC, whether that as a patient, visitor, staff member or doctor.

This centre realized the dream of the doctors involved in the creation of this concept, namely, to once again put high quality patient care as the primary focus of a health care facility.
