The BC provincial government looks to private health care facilities like the Cambie Surgery Centre to help ease the long public wait lists. (Global News)

Cambie Surgery Centre representatives attended the Supreme Court of Canada to participate in a hearing before the Court. A coalition of clinics, doctors and patients was granted intervener status in a case that could end the government monopoly on health care delivery. The plaintiffs Dr. Jacques Chaoulli and Mr. Zeliotis will present their case before the court on June 8th, 2004. The plaintiffs believe that the Canada Health Act violates the rights to life, liberty and security granted in Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Dr. Brian Day presides over the annual meeting of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) in Orlando, Florida. AANA is the world's leading academic society in the field of sports injuries and medicine. He was the second Canadian president in its history and appropriately Vancouver will be the host site for the next annual meeting in 2005. Physicians from all over the world will congregate at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre and watch and learn as live surgery is performed at Vancouver's Cambie Surgery Centre. Through the technology of multimedia the surgery will be "beamed" live to the viewing surgeons, allowing two way communication.

Canada's largest and most advanced surgery centre, Cambie Surgery Centre (CSC) in Vancouver, is set to double in size in July to accommodate a growing number of patients seeking quick access to world class surgeons.
