Dr. Hawkins is an Orthopaedic Surgeon duly qualified and licensed to practice in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery in the Province of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.


He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Queen's University in May of 1969 and interned the following year at Vancouver General Hospital. Subsequently, he entered a residency training program in orthopaedic surgery at that institution and related hospitals and completed his training in November of 1975 when he received by examination, certification in the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada). He was then made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He began practice in the specialty of orthopaedic surgery in January 1976.


Dr. Hawkins worked first in Penticton, B.C. until April of 1982, then Richmond, B.C. for a year and a half and then in Vancouver at Shaughnessy Hospital until it's closure in November 1994 at which point he switched to University Hospital.

Dr. Hawkins did a Clinical Scholarship in Shoulder with Dr. R.J. Hawkins in London, Ontario in 1983 and thereafter developed a special interest in shoulder and upper extremity disorders. In 1995 he was elected associate membership in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and was elected to active membership in 2004.


He currently practice in Vancouver with privileges at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Site. He is also a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of British Columbia.
